Mannkal Research Honours Scholarship

The Mannkal Foundation has a long-standing relationship with Murdoch University that continues to thrive through the support of Murdoch Business School initiatives. Mannkal's mission statement outlines the organisation's aims to strengthen the free market system in Western Australia and Australia, by promoting ideals of voluntary co-operation, choice, personal rights, limited government, and resourcefulness of individuals.

The Mannkal Research Honours Scholarship aims to support students researching an Honours project within Murdoch Business School on the principles of libertarianism and free markets.

In 2010, one student will be awarded the Mannkal Research Honours Scholarship valued at $5,000 to assist with the costs of their research. The Scholarship will be paid in two $2,000 instalments following the census dates of Semesters One and Two, with a final payment of $1,000 on the submission of the thesis.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Mannkal Research Honours Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be eligible to enrol full-time in an Honours level course within Murdoch Business School at Murdoch University, AND
  • Be intending to conduct research into issues relating to libertarianism and free markets, AND
  • Have a record of high achievement in previous study or professional work, AND
  • Be an Australian Citizen

Selection Criteria

Each of the following will be taken into consideration in the selection of the successful applicant:

  • The summary of intended Honours project;
  • Written reference(s) from one and no more than two persons qualified to comment on the applicant's academic studies, and/or a past or current employer;
  • A personal statement of no more than one A4 page demonstrating why the applicant should be the successful candidate, including how the scholarship will enable the achievement of personal goals, academic success and planned career pathway.

The successful applicant will be required to provide the Mannkal Foundation with two copies of their final thesis

If there are two applications on equal standing, financial need will be taken into consideration.
