Mick Young Scholarship Trust

The Mick Young Scholarship Trust was set up in 1997 in memory of the late Mick Young, a former Member of Parliament and Federal Cabinet Minister, who sought to enhance the education opportunities for financially disadvantaged people.

The overriding eligibility criteria for a recipient of a Mick Young Scholarship is financial disadvantage combined with motivation and commitment to furthering education and improving life circumstances. There are no age limits or minimum educational qualifications, but applicants must have gained access to Murdoch via an enabling program.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a Mick Young Scholarship, applicants must:-

  • Be currently enrolled in any undergraduate course at Murdoch University;
    and
  • Be able to demonstrate circumstances of financial hardship;
    and
  • Be an Australian Citizen;
    and
  • Have gained entry to Murdoch University via one of the following programs:
    • Koora Kudidj Pre-Law Program
    • Koort Mooditj (Strong Heart) Pre-Nursing Program
    • Kulbardi Aboriginal Tertiary Entrance Course (KATEC)
    • Kulbardi Wangkiny Pre-Media Program
    • Wangkiny Boodjah Pre-Sustainability Program
    • Tertiary Options Project (TOP)
    • OnTrack
