Rose and Stan de Pierres Scholarship

The Rose and Stan de Pierres Scholarship was established to encourage students from a rural background to research issues relevant to rural Australia. Murdoch University invites applications from prospective undergraduate students intending to enrol full-time in a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Energy Management (B1190) in 2010.

The Scholarship is valued at $1,000 per year for three years (conditional on satisfactory progress) with a possible extension to a fourth year for Honours-level study.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Rose & Stan de Pierres Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Energy Management (B1190), AND
  • Be from an Australian rural background, AND
  • Have a record of high achievement in previous study or professional work, AND
  • Be an Australian Citizen

Selection Criteria

Each of the following will be taken into consideration in the selection of the successful applicant:

  • Written reference(s) from one and no more than two persons qualified to comment on the applicant's academic studies, and/or a past or current employer;
  • A personal statement of no more than one A4 page demonstrating why the applicant should be the successful candidate, including how the scholarship will enable the achievement of personal goals, academic success and planned career pathway.

If there are two applications on equal standing, financial need will be taken into consideration.
