Murdoch School of Law Pre-Law Scholarship

The School of Law aims to provide the opportunity for a fee waiver scholarship for the Pre-Law program for students in demonstrable financial and/or personal hardship, who can demonstrate competence and a desire to succeed in a demanding course.

The Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver to the value of $1,500, with no financial stipend.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the Murdoch School of Law Pre-Law Scholarship, students must:

• Be intending to enrol in the Murdoch University School of Law Pre-Law program.
• Provide a personal statement outlining in one A4 page:
  1. The nature of your interest, or prior experience, in working or volunteering in a field that can be related to Law or Legal Studies.
  2. Any past experiences leading up to your enrolment in the Pre-Law program of personal and/or financial hardship; and
  3. How this scholarship would assist you in the achievement of your academic goals and planned career pathway.
• Provide one and no more than two WRITTEN references from persons qualified to comment on your prior work experience and/or general aptitude and motivation for studying.
• Students should provide transcripts from any previously undertaken study where possible.

Selection Criteria

The following will be taken into consideration by the selection panel:

• Personal statement;
• Appropriate references;
• Demonstrated interest or prior experience in working or volunteering in a filed that can be related to Law or Legal Studies.

Preference will be given to the following in no particular order:

• Students with a disability or medical condition that impedes their ability to study
• Students with significant caring responsibilities
• Students who have had to relocate from a regional or remote area to study
• Students from a refugee background
• Students from a background of demonstrable financial and/or personal hardship
