Soroptimist International Rockingham Scholarship

Soroptimist International Rockingham Scholarship is part of an organisation which is a global voice for women working through awareness, advocacy and action in over 122 countries. Soroptimist International has over 93,000 members around the world in management and professions working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women. Western Australia's 18 clubs are part of 3,000 clubs around the world. This scholarship is part of Soroptimist International of the South West Pacific Federation. Individual clubs provide local, national and international support to projects through active participation in communities and through fund-raising.

Soroptimist International Rockingham provides a scholarship to assist a female student residing in the City of Rockingham with the costs of their first year of an undergraduate course at Murdoch University. The scholarship is specifically aimed at a student who has successfully undertaken the OnTrack Program.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must:

  • Be intending to enrol, or be enrolled in an undergraduate course at Murdoch University after having successfully completed the OnTrack Program;
  • Reside within the City of Rockingham;
  • Be a female student in demonstrable financial and/or personal hardship;
  • Be an Australian Citizen.

Selection criteria

The following will be taken into consideration in the selection of the successful applicant:

  • A personal statement of no more than one A4 page demonstrating why the applicant should be the successful candidate and addressing how this scholarship will help to achieve their educational goals;
  • Level of financial and/or personal hardship;
  • Demonstrated aptitude for higher education, determined in consultation with OnTrack academic staff.
